Jack Vincent Barnhill was born in France to a family that traveled the world.  He has lived in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Ethiopia, Panama, Puerto Rico and seven U.S. states.  Jack has also travelled throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East. 

Because of his travels, Jack was fascinated by the diversity and beauty of people from around the world, this led him to focus on portraits.

Although largely self-taught, Jack studied at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, under Linda Jo Russell, Chris Warner, Franklyn Liegel and Laddie John Dill. Jack taught Trompe O'iel and Realism at Otis College of Art & Design from 2011 to 2017. Since moving to Naples, Florida he has been giving private lessons at his studio and teaching pastels and drawing at the Naples Art Center.  

Jack has had numerous shows including winning a Prize of Excellence at the 19th International Art Exhibition at the National Art Center of Tokyo in November 2019 and 1st Prize in the TAG Gallery California Open Exhibition in 2014. He has also appeared in the August 2010 edition of Art Collector Magazine and was featured in the August 2020 edition. He is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America and the Pasadena Society of Artist. Jack is a juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America, and an Associate Artist of Unison Colour. He is also a founding board member of Warrior Theatre, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative art therapy to survivors of child abuse.
